13 Ways to feel more relaxed during the day, every day

If you find it difficult to put yourself in the state of relaxation and maintain this state throughout the day then I have a guide for you which I follow myself and find it very useful. It is composed of several things that can be done in order to remove tension and bring the feeling of peace to your body and mind. It is not necessary to practise all of points mentioned, however I would strongly advise to do so.

 1. Breathe deeply and stretch your muscles

This is one of the easiest and most effective ways of releasing stress; it doesn’t require much time and needs no preparations. When you feel angry, stressed, frustrated, confused, impatient or afraid then for a brief moment focus your attention on your breath. Inhale deeply and exhale slowly..you can also combine this technique with stretching. The way I like to do this is while standing up I start taking a slow and deep breath and at the same time I stretch my arms upwards, hold it for 3 seconds or so and then slowly breathe out while lowering my arms. I repeat this process at least 3 times. You can upgrade it further by letting all negative energies out when exhaling and allowing positive thoughts and emotions enter you when inhaling. This is a powerful relaxation technique that can be done almost anywhere and for me it works great, so will for you if you let it to.

 2. Focus awareness on what surrounds you

Whenever you feel confused, overwhelmed by the amount of thoughts going through your mind and thus unable to concentrate, I suggest focusing your awareness on the background. Look around, glance at items, keep your eyes on each for a few seconds. Continue this process for about 3-5 minutes. Only observe, notice shapes, colours and shadows, letting your mind centre and refresh. If you wish, you may also stretch before or after this exercise, don’t be afraid to combine techniques, they all work perfectly together.

 3. Try to see aura of your hand

This one also helps to calm your mind and take unnecessary thoughts away. Sit somewhere where the light source is not too strong, take a look at your hand and keep looking at it without getting distracted. If you allow yourself to see, you should be able to notice a small, usually greyish energy surrounding your hand. Then use both your hands and join your pointing fingers, keep them joined for a few seconds and then slowly began separating them. You should be able to observe a greyish line of energy joining your fingers which expands as the distance between your fingers increases. At higher levels of awareness you would manage to see colours but that’s more advanced and it’s not the purpose of this exercise now. Observing your aura will enhance your consciousness and will help you get more relaxed. Combine it with previous techniques to experience greater effects.

 4. Have a cup of mint

Instead of drinking coffee or tea, have a cup of mint. It has relaxing and refreshing qualities. It also tastes really nice and it doesn’t contain caffeine. It is great before going to bed as it will make falling asleep easier through its relaxing effects. It doesn’t affect your physical or mental activities so no worries.

 5. Smile and laugh

Smile and laugh naturally reduce stress levels in your body. If there’s no one around to smile to then smile to yourself. Check a website with jokes, look at some funny pictures and bring amusing memories back. Do what is takes to put yourself in good smiley mood.

 6. Maintain positive attitude

Allow only positive thoughts into your mind. If something negative appears then let it melt, don’t concentrate on negative thought, don’t let it expand. Visualise only the good side of circumstances and see in your mind only those results that you want to appear around you. Remember that you have the power over what is happening in your life and you can make it worse by being negative, keep it as it is by being ignorant and indifferent to what is going on or you can change it and improve it by creating positive visions and following them with positive feelings and actions. If you would like to read more about this then check this article: Keeping positive attitude and feeling great.

 7. Do not worry what others think or say about you

If you get stressed because you care so much about other people’s opinion then it is time for you to realize that how others perceive you is of no importance. You know the best who you are and what you represent..no one else apart from you has the right or power to change that. Their opinions, comments or jokes are of no value at all because they do not create who you are. They can only affect your state of being if you surrender to them and allow them to drain your power. When you experience social anxiety then a good exercise which may help you is nr.2 on this list. Sit down on a bench or wherever you feel comfortable, preferably somewhere where you can see a lot of people passing by and observe them. Look around, see how they come and go, do not judge them in any way, forget about what they clothes are or their looks, only observe. Is there anything scary in them? What makes them so frightening that you feel anxiety? Some of those people may actually notice you sitting there and wonder what you might think of them..they may feel the same kind of anxiety that you had experienced before…they’re worried even though you only observe..This whole feeling of being afraid is an illusion created by our minds, it’s a response from ego that it doesn’t feel secure. It thinks it is compared and judged..it tries to defend itself by sending signal to your body which creates this feeling of anxiety. Understand that there is no danger, you are safe, even if someone does think a negative thought about you then so what. Remember that it is not other people’s thoughts about you that create you or your reality..it is your thoughts that create you..and reality you live in.

 8. Try meditation

Meditation is a great tool to relax your body, expand consciousness and heal yourself. The way I like to start meditation is firstly by relaxing my whole body. I put attention into different parts of my body and slowly let them relax, feel their weight. At the same time I clear my mind and allow all thoughts to freely go away, after that I begin meditation. There are numerous ways to meditate and you can find specific information on this subject anywhere on the internet or the bookshop in your city. Meditation is an important part of spiritual growth as it allows you to connect to the real you, contact your guide and discover the secrets of the universe.

 9. Make sure that you have enough sleep

Resting is crucial for our bodies if we want to keep them energized and healthy. Therefore, you need to give yourself enough time to sleep during the night. If you overuse your body it will respond accordingly and make you feel stressed and tired. Drinking huge amounts of coffee or taking drugs to maintain energy is an extremely poor idea since doing this can only lead to self-destruction.

 10. Eat healthy

What we eat is also very important when we speak about feeling relaxed. Burgers, pizzas, kebabs, plenty of sweets, crisps and other products containing high levels of carbohydrates and fat will damage overall health of a person if consumed on regular basis.

 11. Exercise regularly

Physical training can be very beneficial both to our mind and bodies. I really enjoy training and whenever I feel that there are too many negative emotions accumulated in my body I will go and train. It not only gives me a boost of energy but also revitalizes my body, makes it stronger and releases all mental and physical tensions. Remember that even short (30 minutes) and light training will give far better results than no training at all.

 12. Avoid noise and listen to calm music

If your aim is to become more relaxed every day then exposing yourself to noise is definitely a bad idea. Noise affects our physical and astral bodies and its effects are deeply harmful. Even if you block your ears it will still affect you as the vibrations will pierce through you, even on soul level. For this reason I would advise you to avoid noisy places and if you are going for a night out then try to choose locations where the sound is not banging like crazy. If you are staying at home then it would be a good idea to play some quiet and peaceful music and combine this with some of the previously listed relaxation techniques.

 13. Combine all of the above and go through them in one go.

Experiment! See how it would feel to complete all of the steps mentioned. Go to bed early the night before and have a great, refreshing sleep. When you wake up, stretch your muscles the way you like to in the morning, smile and take some deep breaths. Look around your room, keeping attention to shapes, shadows and colours. Try to notice the aura of your hand. Think something extremely positive, visualise something that makes you jump with joy. Then have a 10-30 minutes meditation. When you are finished prepare a healthy breakfast for yourself and have a cup of mint with it. Put some tranquil music in the background. After breakfast stretch again, think positive, give your body at least 1 hour to absorb the food and then have some exercise in the form you choose (sex is also a great exercise :D ). Be happy and let this day be a new beginning.

There are probably many more things which you may implement into your daily routine and which would help you to reduce stress but I limited this list to only 13 points as these are the one that I follow personally and find them very useful. They helped me to overcome various fears and insecurities and I am sure they will help you as well. Remember that life is not all about money, status, possessions and celebrities..you are here to learn and enjoy the process, so take your time and be more relaxed.
